My passion for CHACONNE lies in its subtle rendering of a fleeting moment in two peoples’ lives; a moment which on the face of it is insignificant but, in its effect, is huge. It’s a statement of faith in human nature, a raging at the danger of increased isolation, with added heart and a lightness of touch.

A film still from Francesca's film GIRL featuring a young girl sitting in a window

Written and directed by Francesca, GIRL is intentionally low-spec in style to reflect the feeling of a young girls’ unformed world. It was inspired by her observations of the secret currents in her daughter’s life. At thirteen, on the cusp of adulthood, a girl yearns to be part of the group of older teenagers on the beach. The film documents that yearning and catches that fleeting moment in a young girl’s life.
